One of Mike Pilbeams most successful hillclimb cars, Two MP40’s were built and this is the only surviving example today.
It won the RAC national Hillclimb Championship in 1979 driven by Martyn Griffiths and again in 1981 with James Thompson.
A New honeycomb tub was upgraded in 1984 with ground effect aerodynamics. 2004 it was fitted with a TVR 4500cc V8 Tuscan Challenge engine.
Recently used for British Championship hillclimbs at Shelsley, Prestcott, Loton Park and MIRA Sprints
Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.
